Internet-based Instructional Programs

SMART Schools is an internet-based supplemental system which provides computerized instruction and support for K-12 education. We provide this service only through school districts. We can help you with a variety of needs ranging from special education students to homebound students and to students with deficiences in the fundamentals of reading, writing, math, science, etc..  Courses and services are based upon the following precepts:

*  Computers DO NOT provide substitute supervision for a teacher or parent; “"A child who is left alone is a child who is left behind!"

*  Computers DO NOT teach socialization skills.

*  Computer screens DO NOT capture textbooks or classroom activities effectively.

*  Computers DO teach facts repetitively and effectively in mastery-based courseware.

*  Computers DO teach processes through repetition in mastery-based courseware.

*  Computers DO catch student mistakes instantly in properly programmed courseware.

*  Computers DO force students to corrective processes after errors are made.

*  Computers DO not complain or denigrate the student.

*  Computers DO allow the student to progress at his own learning pace.

*  Computers DO remediate fundamental core deficiencies when selectively programmed.

*  Computers DO respond to learning disabilities when so programmed.

*  Computers DO isolate students from distractive classroom environments.

*  Computers DO significantly decrease the amount of time for material presentation when compared to the traditional classroom (20 minutes vs. 1 hour).

*  Computers and Live Interactive SMARTWebCam(tm) Teacher led courses DO teach Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts effectively over the Internet.

Another integral facet of SMART Schools philosophy is that computers and their use may create an environment of confusion and frustration if proper staff training and technical support are not provided. Therefore, timely and continued TRAINING and SUPPORT is a cornerstone of our operation.  We approach all issues with a humble sense of understanding and humor, and the bottom line is that we want the school and student to be successful, and you only pay for what you use each month!
